Backing Tracks for Guitar
To honest I’m not the biggest fan of best of lists!
Everybody has their own opinion – some you will agree with, some you won’t!
In the words of Joe Satriani on being left out of the Rolling Stone List of best guitar players of all time:
“Everyone knows that Rolling Stone is shit. That list was made to be provocative, to get attention. And to Rolling Stone’s credit, the list has gotten that attention.”
Ironically Joe is not on my list here (I’m sure he wont be too worried!!!) but stick with me while I explain the theory behind this…..
Hmmm …there is actually no rhyme or reason…..
The A – Z of Guitar Gods came into my mind and I kinda started it so I had to finish it!
It’s not a definitive list by any stretch of the imagination!!!
It was just my guitar nerdish mind matching the letters of the Alphabet with great guitar players!

It also matched up perfectly with my discovery of an unbelievably simple and cheap backing track solution for guitar players (or any musician by the way!)
I recently wrote about how you can use these tracks as killer live band rehearsal tool for better practices.

B Chuck Berry
Chuck Berry was one of the rock and roll pioneers. Ripping guitar solos and pure showmanship paved the way for many rock guitar players coming after Chuck!

C Eric Clapton
For many Eric Clapton is God! This was spray painted on the wall of a Tube station in London while played with John Mayall’s Bluesbreakers. Clapton was part of the power trio Cream.

Dimebag was the guitarist in Pantera
Pantera for me redefined heavy metal music. Furious sounds and energy with some superb guitar playing!

E The Edge
The Edge from u2 loved fellow Irish guitarist Rory Gallagher when growing up. Unable to play like the legendary Rory, The Edge set about using his guitar to craft sonic shapes within his songs. The Edge likes…loves delay!!!
